AI hyper-personalized organ regeneration platform company ROKIT Healthcare (KOSDAQ: 376900, CEO Seok-hwan You) presented its kidney regeneration research data at the American Society of Nephrology (ASN Kidney Week 2026), raising expectations for its entry into global clinical trials.

According to the presentation, a preclinical study on ureteral obstruction conducted with Professor Joseph Bonventre's research team at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Harvard Medical School, showed a distinct kidney function preservation effect. While the glomerular filtration rate (GFR) of the control groups decreased, the group applied with the regeneration patch utilizing autologous omentum tissue showed maintained or improved GFR results.

In particular, the results of the Harvard mouse experiment showed that GFR was maintained or improved in 62.5% of the patch-applied group, whereas no such cases were observed in the control group.

Along with the preservation of kidney function, it was also confirmed that tissues critical for proper functioning were protected. Compared to the damaged control group, the patch-applied group preserved a tubular (LTL+) structure closer to a normal kidney. Furthermore, fibrosis-related markers such as collagen and KIM-1, a key indicator of kidney damage, were significantly reduced compared to the control group, displaying aspects close to normal tissue.

This supported the fact that functional preservation leads to actual structural protection of core tissues. Furthermore, cell senescence indicators were also significantly reduced, simultaneously confirming tissue protection and anti-aging effects.

In addition to ureteral obstruction, a second preclinical model of "Folic acid nephropathy" simulating drug toxicity consistently confirmed the reduction of fibrosis (Fibronectin) and the preservation of tubules (LTL+), further strengthening the technical reliability and versatility.

The confirmation of safety in large animals and the progress of additional efficacy studies were also majorly discussed. Following the confirmation of safety without surgical complications or inflammatory responses for 12 weeks in a previous study on healthy minipigs, the minipig kidney injury model also showed a significant improvement in the glomerular filtration rate, confirming consistent effects that overcome interspecies differences.

Based on this, ROKIT Healthcare is currently continuing the evaluation of efficacy and mechanism of action in a chronic kidney disease pig model. In South Korea, the company plans to directly verify efficacy and safety through approved human clinical studies targeting patients with G3-G4 chronic kidney disease.
